Hippo Vibrator Review
Posted on April 20th, 2009 in Bedroom Bling, Reviews
This will certainly be the final ‘animal shaped’ vibe review I ever write. This is the third one I’ve tried now, and the third one that utterly failed to get me off.
The Hippo Vibrator is as cutesy and inconspicuous as it’s duck and fish cousins. Also waterproof, designed for fun in the tub or shower, which is perhaps one of it’s few redeeming qualities.
You squeeze him to turn him on, to the same, singular vibration setting, and then squeeze him again to turn him off. He’s innocent looking, all blue and adorable. I wanted very badly to like him, but he couldn’t get the job done.
Now, there are all sorts of people out there who just love these kinds of toys, Nia included. I think that my hitachi may have ruined my genitals to less powerful vibrators forever. Jesus, please don’t let me get to the point where I need a belt sander to get off.
If you’re shopping for your first sex toy, it’s worth a try, as it’s not intimidating, and the gentle stimulation may be just what you’re looking for. It also is an amusing addition to a bath, or if you just want something to warm you up.
I feel a little guilty for all the bad press I’ve given these animal toys. Is there anyone out there who would like to share a positive comment or two on these vibrators?

i think what i like the most about the duckie is the weight of the vibe. i can hold it with little effort (in spite of less than awesome upper body strength, & a chronic pain disorder) by just resting a finger either side of his neck, and i get a continuous pulsing sensation combined with awesome pressure.
i prefer a slower pulsing to a fast purr, and maybe that’s why the sensation is just perfect for me. i find when i’m with a new partner i sometimes need to have them slow down, and give me less friction, more pressure, with digital clit stimulation. this is the same kind of deal i get from my duckie. eight years after first discovering my yellow friend i’m one my third – apparently their motors can only purr for so many hundreds of hours
hope that helps!

p.s. if the grinning aquatic pachyderm needs a home, there’s room in my bed for more than one adorable animal vibe
