So I’m Easy. Is There Really Any Virtue In Being Difficult?

Some weeks ago I had the pleasure of hosting a good friend of mine from Calgary for several days, and taking her to see some of the sights in and around the GTA.

The second day she was here, we spent a good part of the day searching for relatives of hers in a nearby cemetary (some of her family is from the area) and I had the good sense to bring my camera.  It was a lovely day, and a great opportunity to take some autumn photos.

During her visit I was able to work in a few of my list items as well, such as visiting the famous St. Jacobs Market.  We were both enamoured with the market and the amazing selection of meats, cheeses, and fresh produce available.  I stocked up on peppers, strawberries, pie pumpkins, and squash.  It was impossible to see everything in the time we had, so I hope to go back again and see the rest of what the market has to offer.

After spending the morning at the market, we made our way down to Niagara On The Lake to visit some wineries and tour historic downtown. The red wine grapes were heavy on the vines, waiting for the late harvest, and we took in four wineries and I brought home half a case of different varieties, along with a wine journal since Jack had mentioned wanting one.

Once we’d seen what we wanted to see in Niagara On The Lake, we drove over to Niagara Falls, as the day was coming to a close. My friend had never been there, and it’s quite a sight when you’ve not seen it before. We lingered for some time, snapping photos and wandering down the wall that overlooks the falls and the river.

It was starting to get quite dark, so we grabbed supper at an Italian place and then went home to spend the evening with Jack and drinking wine.

I wrote a little about the surprise trip Jack took me on to Niagara Falls before I left for Alberta, and now I wanted to share a few photos I took during our time there. I can also fill you in on the details while I am at it.

We arrived around supper time. Jack had kept our plans a secret from me, so when he dropped off the truck keys with the valet and led me into the lobby of our hotel, I was completely surprised.

This enormous glass flower chandelier greeted us from the ceiling of the hotel. I stood there admiring it while Jack checked us in at the desk.

Decorative Lighting

Our room was up on the 11th floor, with a beautiful view of the falls. I loath taking photos through glass, as it tends to ruin the clarity, but this one turned out not bad:

View From Our Hotel Suite

Our suite had two separate rooms (and a bathroom). When you walked in the door, you came into what I would call the ‘livingroom’ and then through the doorway was our bedroom, bathroom, and minibar area.

Suite Front Room

The bedroom had a king sized bed, and enormous windows facing the falls. It was really amazing. Truly one of the nicest suites I’ve ever stayed in (and we’ve stayed at a lot of pretty hotels). The bed was SO comfortable, and as you can see, had no shortage of pillows.

Bedroom

The bathroom came complete with this two person whirlpool tub, which we took full advantage of after having supper at The Keg. It was glorious to soak together in a hot bath before we made love by the lights they project onto the falls at night.

But I digress ;)

Tub

Supper was magnificent. The Keg in the hotel overlooks the falls as well, and we had a good table, which made it easy to admire the view while we ate.

We had a bottle of wine, appetizers, and steak. While we were eating there was an impressive fireworks show over the falls. It must have lasted nearly ten minutes, and it was gorgeous. I don’t know for sure, but I suspect they probably do that regularly on the weekends at the falls. It’s amazing to watch the water light up with different colors like that.

After supper we went to our room and had a bath, followed by more lascivious things ;) Eventually we fell asleep, wrapped around each other in post-orgasmic bliss.

In the morning we wandered down for our complimentary breakfast. I took a shot of the view from the restaurant, which was nearly the same spot we sat at the night before during supper.

View During Breakfast

After breakfast we went back upstairs and made love again before showering and getting our things together to check out. The night away was a brilliant surprise, and it felt so good to have some time together, kid-free. I have the most amazing husband ever I tell ya.

I was sad to leave the hotel. We grabbed a couple of coffees from Starbucks before picking up our car at the valet and then taking a bit of a tour around Niagara.

Hopefully Jack and I will have a few more opportunities to get away overnight once V moves in with us. She is adamant about babysitting for us as often as she can, since we aren’t charging her rent and she wants to be sure to earn her keep. We don’t really care much about that part of it, but since she is instant, I am certain Jack and I can use the time away. I look forward to he and I doing more things as a couple, such as going to dinner and movies and to Goodhandy’s and so forth.

Thank you Jack, for that special surprise and for being so thoughtful to organize it all for us. You are so good to me, and I look forward to our next opportunity to have an overnight to ourselves :)

Mz. F suggested some weeks ago that while she was here, Jack outta take me out for dinner on Friday night.  He and I don’t often get time alone, so we’re generally willing to graciously accept such offers as they come.

He remained mysterious all week about where we were going, and last night when he walked in the door from work, I was dressed up and ready to go.  He kissed me and then with a grin told me that I had five minutes to run upstairs, pack a change of clothes and whatever other items I would need and then get out to the car.

I was completely surprised, and mostly confused.  I rounded up something to wear and a change of shoes and off we dashed, even though I had no idea where he was taking me.

As it turns out, Niagara Falls was our destination.  He’d booked us a night at Embassy Suites, with a room overlooking the water.  We had dinner reservations at The Keg, and the room had a large whirlpool tub for afterwards.

I don’t know how many of you have been keeping track, but Jack and I have only been away from our children overnight ONCE in the past year.  We had a brief night away for New Years Eve, courtesy of the grandparents.  Sure we’ve had dinners and movies and the like, but a whole night out away from home, kid free?  Only once in 365 days.

In other words, I was totally thrilled.  I really can’t thank Jack enough for being so thoughtful and generous.  He takes great pleasure in orchistrating grand surprises for me, and I’m so greatful to have such a wonderful husband.

I don’t have time to give you the details right now.  We’re having a birthday party for our son in a short while, and then Mz. F and I are off to Varick’s and then Goodhandy’s for a wild night of debauchery.

I’m going to be ‘off’ for a few days, so I’m turing the Twitter digests back on until I have a chance to blog again.  Have a great weekend lovelies!

We were both exhausted, and it felt like I was moving in slow motion.  We got cleaned up, packed our things, and I ran down to fetch our complementary coffee and breakfast from the lobby.  The coffee wasn’t that great, but at that point we didn’t care.  We got a little food down, and I wrote down the directions to where our wine tour was starting, and then we checked out and loaded our stuff into the truck.

For those of you who are not familiar, the Niagara region is home to some of the finest wineries in Canada.  The peninsula is only 40 km long, and quite narrow, so the competition for vineyard space is fierce.  Many of the wines produced here are not available in stores, you must actually visit the winery itself to taste and purchase.  Niagara On The Lake, which is a tiny town in the heart of wine country, is steeped in history.  When the Americans invaded during the war of 1812 they burned it to the ground, but it’s been rebuilt and restored to it’s original glory.  Most of the buildings on the main street were constructed in the years immediately following the war, and they have been beautifully cared for and maintained ever since.  Honestly, if you’ve never visited, and you get the opportunity, GO!  It’s something to see.

After about an hour and a half of driving, we reached Niagara On The Lake well ahead of time for the tour.  I showed Padme around the town some, and then we parked on main street and browsed through some of the fabulous little shops found there.  We could have spent the day I am sure, but I wanted to take her by Peller Estates before the tour, since it wasn’t on the itinerary and I’ve been dying to get another bottle of their Ice Cuvée (one of the types you can’t get in stores).

Classic Ice Cuvee

The Peller Estates winery is absolutely gorgeous.  We took some photos of the outside before we went in to the wine boutique.

We browsed the different wines they offered, and when I came across their 2002 Signature Series Cabernet Franc, I thought of Jack and decided to pick him up a bottle for Father’s Day.  He’s more of a red wine drinker than I am, so we tend to have a lot of white wines at the house.  I was sure he’d really enjoy this particular wine, and 2002 was a great year for us (we got married, bought our first place, and had our first child).

Cabernet Franc

When I found a bottle of the Ice Cuvée I love, I discovered it comes in Rosé now as well.  Even though I am generally not partial to those types of wine, I decided it would be worth a try anyway.  Who knows, maybe I’ll love it as a sparkling wine.

Rose

In addition to the wine, I also got Jack a box of Ice Wine Chocolates.  They are sooooooo rich, and such a nice treat really.  He and I both have way too many ‘things’ which is why I wanted to get him some treats over the weekend for Father’s Day.

When we finished up at Peller, we drove to the appointed meeting place for our guided tour.  We ended up being the only people on the wine tour that day, which was actually fabulous, because our director was fantastic and really made the afternoon so much more than we imagined.  He’s a history buff, so he talked a lot about the region and shared so many facts about wine making and about the war and the American invasion.  I wish I’d been taking notes, LOL, it was the best history/economy lesson I’ve ever had!

Our first stop was Jackson Triggs.  That’s one impressive winery!  They actually put together all of the wine making equipment, and then built the ‘modern barn’ around it.

Jackson Triggs Winery

We were shown around the outside of the winery, and the young woman who did the tour there was fantastic.  I learned all sorts of interesting information about the process of wine making that I hadn’t known before.

She took us through the inside of the winery as well.  We were shown the wine press, and the stainless steel tanks where white wines (and some reds) are aged.  There were two levels of tanks, housing rows and rows of them.  I was so glad that we were allowed to take photos inside, even if the lighting was terrible and difficult to work with.

White Wine Tanks

Wine Vats

Once we’d seen the processing and fermentation area, we got to go downstairs, underground, to their equally impressive barrel cellar, where the red wines are aged in French and American oak barrels.

Let me tell you, the smell down there is AMAZING!  If you were down there long enough, believe it or not, you could get drunk off the fumes alone (apparently some of the enormous cellars in France restrict visiting times to 20 minutes or less for this reason).

Their barrel cellar features a dining area as well, which can be rented out for weddings, corporate events, or other special occasions. I think I want to have my birthday celebration there one year. Maybe when I turn 30, LOL.

When our official tour was over, we got to taste three varieties of their wine. We had a few very obnoxious people on our tour, so I’ll admit I was relieved when it was over. The wines we tried were quite excellent, and we both ended up picking up a bottle of their Delaine Vineyard 2005 Riesling.

Jackson Triggs

Our driver/guide picked us up when our Jackson Triggs tour was finished, and off we went to the next stop, Strewn Winery.

It was neat to be going from a huge operation like Jackson Triggs, to a much smaller set up like Strewn.  They also have a really neat program, which helps finance their barrels, and gives people an opportunity to invest in the winery in exchange for some fantastic returns.  Basically, you purchase a barrel (between $400-$700) and then Strewn uses it in their cellar.  You do not get the wine in the barrel, but each year for five years you get about $150 to spend in their wine boutique.  It’s designed so that you actually get more back than you initially invested.

While we were doing a tasting in the cellar, we got to try a very young wine that hadn’t aged long enough, directly from one of the barrels.  That was a very neat experience because most people never have the opportunity to taste a ‘new’ wine right out of the barrel.

I didn’t end up purchasing any wine there, although I intend to go back and buy some of their second press ice wine, which is more affordable than regular ice wine and not as intensely sweet.  It’s essentially, a perfect wine for me.  Sweet but not too sweet, and cheap enough that we could buy a case of it to keep in hand.  Also I could justify cooking with it, which I am dying to try, and which I don’t think I could do with a regular $50 bottle of ice wine.

Outside of Strewn were several clumps of rose bushes.  Did you know that wine growers plant rose bushes at the ends of grape vine rows, or near to their vineyards, to help check for disease?  Roses are very susceptible to insects, parasites, and diseases that might affect the grapes.  So, they check the roses every day to see if something is the matter with them, and if there is trouble, they can start walking the vines to find out if it’s spread to the vineyard.

Red Rose

White Rose

Cattail Estate Wineryis a small, family run business.  They have been growing grapes since 1957, but only recently have they established a wine making facility.  They bottle their wines by hand, and you can tell that everyone who works there really cares a great deal about the wine they produce.

I loved the small, friendly feel of the place.  Their wines were excellent, and we had a great time bantering with the young woman who took us on the tour and provided us with cheese, crackers, and fruit with our tasting.  That was nice because Padme and I were both beginning to feel a little intoxicated, LOL.

I didn’t purchase any wine there either, although I cannot wait to take Jack there for a tasting!

Our last stop on the wine tour was Caroline Cellars, another smaller winery.  I really loved the inside of their winery, and I’d like to go back to try some of their other fruit wines.  As it was, I took home a bottle of their very sweet and delicious 2006 Winter Peach.

Winter Peach

I was sad to see our tour come to an end, but the day wasn’t over yet!  I still wanted to take Padme to see Niagara Falls, and grab a bite to eat before we headed home.

115. Take a wine tour

We bid our guide a good evening, he was so wonderful I think I’ll request him on future tours.  Also, I highly recommend Crush Tours if you’re planning to be in the Niagara area.  They were fantastic, totally accommodating, and very friendly.  I intend to book tours with them down the road when our family comes out to visit.

It was crazy at the falls, of course.  Being a Sunday, and Father’s Day no less, there were people everywhere!  We walked along the wall that overlooks the river and the falls themselves.  Padme was quite impressed it seemed, and she took a ton of pictures.  I snapped a few close ups with my camera as well.

Niagara

Rainbow

Niagara Falls

We strolled through a couple of souviner shops as well, so that Padme could pick up some momentos for her kids.  Since there wasn’t much in the way of dining near the falls, and parking there is a nightmare, we just grabbed some sandwiches from Tim Hortons and ate them outside.  There was a very stupid and persistent seagull who was intent on getting food from us.  He kept creeping closer, then he’d squalk a few times and tilt his head to regard us with his beady eyes.  Eventually I started throwing rocks at him, despite the fact that I was tempted to give him some food.  I knew that if I did he’d just call 50 of his buddies over or become even more annoying.

It was getting late in the day, so we headed for home.  Padme was able to nap some in the car, which I didn’t mind at all.

Back at my place, we relaxed in the living room and drank some ice wine, which I had purchased weeks before for just that occassion.  It was nice to unwind after such a busy day, and I felt exhausted.  I think I was out before my head even hit the pillow!

Make sure to check Padme’s blog for her posts about the weekend as well :)

Beyond the night of the party, I know I haven’t blogged at all about K’s visit or any of the other fun things we did while he was here.  Between actually spending time with him and planning for the party and then having the party and recovering only to fly out to Calgary for an incredible weekend with friends, well, blogging much just wasn’t in the cards.

So, allow me to bring everyone up to speed on the recent happenings :)

K arrived on Friday evening, and when I met him at the airport it didn’t feel at all like 9 months had passed since we’d last seen each other.  On the drive back to my house we chatted about his flight (he’d never flown in a commercial aircraft before) and about Ontario and what sorts of things we were going to see and do while he was here.  It wasn’t awkward at all, which was nice.

On Friday night was a bit of a different story, LOL.  It had been a long time since the three of us were together and as the clothes started coming off I joked that perhaps I had forgotten how to do it.  Clearly they had not since they fell on me like a pair of starving hyenas, and after that all I remember is cumming while K licked between my legs and Jack nibbled my breasts and nipples.  I think they must have fucked me as well, although I can’t tell you in what order or how many times or for how long, HA HA.

Jack was up bright and early on Saturday morning to pick up F, who had taken the red eye out from Calgary.  When they got back to the house we all visited some and then I headed out for my waxing appointment.  My estetician was quite surprised at the lack of regrowth I had, and commented that I should probably space out my appointments by more than 5 weeks so that there would be something there to yank out next time.

After that was finished I went to pick up Nia and her ex-boyfriend.  He needs a letter or a name or something I suppose…we’ll call him Remi.  They were…um…not out of bed yet ;) so I went to fetch coffee while they got themselves untangled and organised for the day.  We all ended up back at my place so that we could do some preparation for the party on Sunday, and generally hang out together.

Jack and F decided to go shopping for something that Jack could wear to the party.  They were gone until much later that night, while the rest of us wrangled children and made snacks for the big event.  Jack and I own a chocolate fountain and we’d decided to loan it out for the party, so we cut up fruit and so forth to go with that.

Nia and Remi went back to her place around supper time, and once the kids were in bed K and I curled up on the couch to watch TV, which led to being naked, which led to having sex several times in the living room.  Yum!

Sunday was of course the party, which I’ve already written about at length here.  Monday was spent recouperating from the loooooong day prior.  Jack and F went to do some sight seeing before he had to drop her off at the airport.  It was so lovely having her here.  Generally Jack hogs all of her time, so I really enjoyed having a chance to hang out with her more myself.

Once Jack got home from the airport, K and I headed down to Niagara Falls.  It was a somewhat cool day, but not freezing.  There was still a lot of ice on the river at the bottom of the falls.  We strolled along the walk way, and I told him about the Dragon Ritual Drummers and the stories of the dragon that lives behind the Falls.  If you haven’t heard of this drumming group they are totally amazing, and I’ll have one of their songs available for download at the end of this post.  I’m hoping to get in on one of their workshops at a local Pagan Festival this summer.

K and I were both starving, so we headed back to the truck and drove around Niagara to find a place to eat.  We settled on this quiet little pub and grill, which served pretty decent food, and was practically vacant.  We laughed a lot and reminiced a little over good memories from our relationship.  We agreed to avoid topics like P or the downhill slide that resulted in us breaking up.  Water under the bridge really, so there wasn’t any point in rehashing all of that.

After a scenic drive back from Niagara, we decided that we finally had room for dessert.  Casey’s has a mile-high chocolate cake to die for and I’d been craving it for days.  I couldn’t possibly finish it all, and K had ordered the Peanut Brownie Sundae, so I took the rest home for Jack.

Luckily he was still awake when we got home, although cake was the last thing on his mind, LOL.  The three of us had a fabulous threesome (I present photographic evidence, which is more efficient than me blathering on and on. The distortions were necessary to hide body art):

Take Me From Behind Baby!

Eventually we all fell asleep, exhausted, but quite satiated.  Can you tell I have a real preference for sex doggy-style?  I think it’s because the boys so love to twist my dreads in their hands and pull my head back while they fuck me like tomorrow will never come.  It’s delicious.  It also allows for spanking, which I enjoy immensely

Tuesday was rather relaxed.  Jack had to work so K and I spent the day recovering from the long weekend.  Tuesday evening was the local kink munch, and K agreed to go with me.  We had a very wonderful time.  I got to visit with some really nice people who I’ve gotten to know at previous events.  A gorgeous Domme, whom I sometimes flirt with, invited me to spend a night in her dungeon.  I’ve never bottomed to a woman before, mainly because I’ve never met one who induced those submissive feelings in me.  Until now.  I’d gladly let her beat on me any night she feels like it, in fact, I intend to take her up on that offer at the first mutually agreeable opportunity.

On Wednesday I woke up feeling…not quite right.  More specifically, my girl parts seemed displeased.  Now, I often joke that I have a stainless steel vagina, because I’ve never had anything go wrong down there.  No irritation, no yeast infections, nothing troublesome in the least, despite some of the strange and varied things I stick up there (I mean sex toys you sickos).  It’s always been perfectly well behaved, the way every pussy should be.

So I passed it off as irritation from ‘overuse’ as V put it ;)  However, after a hot shower and avoiding sex for nearly two days, there was no use trying to pretend.  Something was just not right.  I’d never had a yeast infection before, but after discussing it with Nia I figured that must be the problem.

After thinking about it some, the culprit was decidely the ass-to-vaginal contact that had occurred during the Monday night threesome.  Jack’s penis was in K’s ass and shortly after in my pussy.  Stupid mistake on our parts.  One that I won’t soon repeat.  Let this be a lesson to all of you.  ASS-TO-VAGINA is a BAD BAD BAD idea.  Even if you think your parts are immune to such infections, you’ll be sorry.  I wouldn’t have over-shared all of that with you had it not included a moral :P

Thursday evening K and I got on a plane at Pearson and headed for Calgary.  It was a good flight, and I couldn’t wait to see V.  That, however, is a story for another post.

I <3 My Antibiotics!

Feeling significantly better since Wednesday, and I’ve been able to eat without getting sick.

Plus, K arrives in less than 9 hours! Woot!

We chatted last night, and when it was time for bed I quickly typed “See you tomorrow” and then it occurred to me how long it had been since the last time I’d said that to him. 9 months is a long time (well, it is and it isn’t) but the distance has been good. Lots of old wounds healed over, and we’ve found out how to forgive each other for past hurts. I’m not sure it would have happened had we stayed in such close proximity to each other.

As Nia likes to say “Absence makes the heart grow fungus”

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

Ok I just put that in there because it’s hilarious.

While he’s out here I plan to take him to see the sights. He’s never been to Ontario, so there are lots of places to go, and things to do! Niagara Falls is on this list, as well as a museum or two. Maybe a tour of wine country and trip to the CN Tower.

Regardless we shall have a good time.

Anyway, I should get a few things done this morning. Keeping busy makes time pass more quickly after all :D Blogging will be light until Tuesday or so.

Have a great weekend lovelies!
