Durex Avanti Condom Review

I’ve never much cared for Durex condoms. In fact, out of all of the brands Jack and I have used over the years, their standard line of latex ‘meat wrappers’ have always seemed the most like to break or slip off. The first (and only) condom that I’ve ever misplaced up inside my nether-bits was a Durex.
So, I was skeptical of Durex Avanti Polyurethane Condoms, even though V has been using them for years and absolutely swears by them. That fact alone is the main reason I decided to give them a go, and PinkCherry was kind enough to oblige my curiosity.
With plans to put them through rigorous testing, I packed a few of these condoms along for my weekend away with Jackin January. During one of several rounds of foreplay we enjoyed that weekend, I rolled one of these over his rigid cock and when he slid into me I think he said something like “Wow” but perhaps it was just a groan of pleasure.
These condoms are the closest thing to bareback we’ve ever used. They have become our all-time favorite condoms, and as they are pricier than latex, they are reserved for ‘making love’ and not our usual animalistic fucking.
Polyurethane condoms are thinner, stronger, and conduct heat better than latex. They are less stretchy, so the fit is slightly different, which can lead to more slippage than might occur with latex, but I’ve never personally experienced a problem. They also have a longer shelf life, can be used with oil-based lubricants, and are far less allergenic. Good news for people with latex allergies!
I personally also prefer that they are odor free.
While the jury is still out on how effective they are at protecting you from STI’s, they are decidedly quite safe when it comes to pregnancy prevention. The FDA has ruled them effective for both purposes, so it really comes down to how many studies you need in order to feel safe. That is a matter of personal choice.
